Chapter 7

The next day I waited anxiously for Taylor to appear at our front door, bags in hand. But morning passed, then afternoon, and finally it grew dark. I had done nothing all day but fret over the situation. Maybe she had changed her mind, I thought hopefully, or maybe it was just a pregnancy scare.

“Dude, come over here and get some pizza. You’re not gonna change anything by staring at that door all day,” said John from the kitchen doorway. I was hungry, so I joined everyone in the kitchen. Tina and Melody were scarfing down slices; they were eating for eight between the two of them, of course. Both of them were sitting on the couch watching TV. Tina had a paper plate loaded with pizza balancing on top of her big round belly. It was actually pretty cute.

I grabbed a couple slices and sat down next to them. But as soon as I took my first bite of cheese pizza I heard the doorbell ring. Jumping up, I ran to the door and pulled it open. “Hi, Taylor…” I began but stopped short. There was Ashley, and she looked pissed. She marched right past me and into the living room. Then I noticed the other girls. There was Taylor and five or six other girls. It looked to be about half of the sorority.

“Uh, hello?” I said lamely, staring around in bewilderment. Each of them was carrying things, duffel bags, clothes, toiletries. John, Dave, Tina, and Melody had come out to see what was happening. Ashley dumped her things on the floor and began stomping back towards the door. I stepped in front of her, blocking her way. “Ashley, wait, what’s going on?” I asked.

She was clearly furious. “What the fuck do you think?” she practically spat, staring at me wildly. “We’re moving in. Thanks to your little fucking party, we’re all knocked up!”

I just stared in disbelief. Behind me, Tina burst out laughing.

“That’s right. You knocked me up, you asshole,” she said, pointing her finger into my chest.

The laughter behind me stopped immediately. “Wait, what??” Tina said. “You fucker her??”

“That’s right,” said Ashley, looking past me at Tina and smiling coldly. “Your little fuckboy put a baby in me at that party. And all your little friends fucked us too. And now we’ve been kicked out of our sorority because apparently having a baby is “unbecoming behavior.” So it looks like we’ll be staying here now!”

With that, she marched out the door. The rest of the girls set their stuff down as well and began filing out.

I turned around. Though Tina had been furious a second before, she was now in tears and ran out of the room as fast as her big pregnant body would let her waddle. Melody stared at me with a disgusted look on her face. “What the fuck, Trent?” was all she said, before following Melody.

John and Dave looked shell-shocked. “Did you…?” I asked, wondering if it was only me in the hot seat.
